Safety first especially when it comes to heights

Apart from the obvious risk of falling and breaking your back, you and your boss would have received a substantial fine .

Simply hiring a safety harness and attaching it properly to the roof structure your workplace would have been a lot safer.

Testimonials from our customers

skills and friendliness were impressive.

Graeme

Thanks for enlarging the small servery hatch in the double brick wall of our apartment’s kitchen. You were a real “find” since other builders were either not interested in such a small job or were far too expensive.

I enjoyed working with you on the project and learned a great deal in the process. Plus, we saved several hundred dollars.

Your efficiency, skills and friendliness were impressive. We particularly valued your concern to minimise any inconvenience for other residents in the building and the measures you took to reduce the amount of dust, etc. created in our apartment.

I hope that we can work together on other projects as our renovations progress further.

"We Renovate Homes" suits me perfectly because I am happy to get involved

I'm a single female who started out with no building skills and a house in need of a lot of work. I was in the process of looking for a builder when I noticed Graeme's article in the local newspaper. I had a look at the website and decided to give him a call. "We Renovate Homes" suits me perfectly because I am happy to get involved in the renovating and want to learn new skills so I can do some of the work myself - and save money in the process. So far I have had Graeme help me out on three separate occasions. He has helped me with design ideas, cutting brickwork as well as installing a beam. Graeme is friendly, helpful and although he occasionally talks in a language I don't understand (eg trowel, hawk) he is easily able to explain the steps and processes for me to follow. I have a long list of projects to complete and will certainly be asking Graeme for advice and a helping hand along the way. Teresa from Aspley

Barry's paveing

"Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody." - The Beatles tune on Graeme's ring tone says it all. Having no experience whatsoever in DIY, Graeme guided and helped me through paving our courtyard. Not only did he help me to plan the job, instructing me as to what materials, quantities of materials, and equipment to purchase, but also assisted in the actual laying of the pavers. If I had tried to tackle the job without Graeme's unique service, it would not have turned out as well as it did. Graeme made sure we considered drainage and he helped with setting out the site correctly before the paving even started. Graeme approached my project as if it were for his own house. I was extremely happy with the quality of his work and the finished product. Not only was it very satisfying to have completed the project myself, but also it has saved us money.

Since first working with Graeme on the paving project, I have sought his advice on a number of other home improvements, like building a sleeper retaining wall. He has always been approachable and more than willing to provide answers to my questions.

Because of Graeme's encouragement and tutelage, I have gone from never having done any DIY jobs to actively looking for projects to complete around the house. I can highly recommend Graeme to anyone seeking assistance with their renovations or home improvement jobs.

"We have amazed ourselves as to how much we have learned and achieved"

Dear Graeme,

Just a short note to say thanks for the work completed so far with our deck project.

As you know before we signed up with “We Renovate Homes” we were quite disillusioned with the building industry after getting quotes of around $50K to build our deck which we perceived to be a relatively simple task.  Whilst our previous renovating skills had been nothing more than swinging a paint brush, you encouraged us that through your instruction we would be able to do it ourselves.

We are now more than halfway through the project and everything is taking shape nicely.  By our estimation, through using our own labour we should have the project completed for well less than half the price of the original quotes we were given.

Through your help and encouragement we have amazed ourselves as to how much we have learned and achieved to date.  I would like to express our thanks to you for your expertise, ability to work within our schedule, allowing us to use recycled materials to save money, and for just being available by phone and email when we have stumbled across something we’ve not been sure about.  All of these qualities have certainly made the assisted DIY process an enjoyable experience.

We look forward to completing this project and working with you on other projects and are happy to recommend your service to others considering going through this process.

"I was fortunate to find We Renovate Homes"

For anyone wanting to renovate Graeme Homewood is a God sent. As a photographer I had know idea what I was embarking on. We started with a simple plan to make over the kitchen and build a pergola out the back of an old three bedroom post war house. We have so far excavated, lifted, built underneath and extended out the back.

I would strongly recommend to anyone who is thinking of any type of renovation or new home, especially from the planning stage, to have some one at hand to advise you on what’s practical and cost effective. It’s so easy to get carried away with the design. Don’t rely on architects, draftsman or in my case building designers without guidance. I would have saved weeks of man hours and thousands of dollars, if I had known Graeme and involved him in the planning stage.

However, I was fortunate to find Graeme Homewood’s, We Renovate Homes after running into difficulties using part time builders, who lacked commitment and experience. Just when I thought things were going to get worse along comes G.H. and not only tells me how to fix my problems but finds me a fantastic builder.

The service, assistance and friendship received from G.H. We Renovate Homes have been outstanding and I’ll cherish the experience for ever.

Thanks Heaps

"Graeme gave us the confidence to go ahead ourselves"

Graeme Homewood first made an impression when we visited his website, his material covered all aspects of work needed for the complete internal renovation of our post war cottage.  But after reviewing our list of things to do, it still seemed almost impossible that we could complete the work ourselves.

Having Graeme come to us and give step by step instructions and demonstrations was what gave us the confidence to go ahead ourselves.  Graeme was always available to give the advice and the help we needed to keep our renovations on track.  His hands on work and industry knowledge proved invaluable in creating what we think is a quality renovation.

"The perfect solution for someone... willing to give it a go"

I would highly recommend Graeme from We Renovate Homes to anyone who is willing to try a bit of DIY renovating, and like me is amazed at some of the prices being charged by tradesman today.

I have called on Graeme's experience a few times now. He is easy to work with, and each time he has provided honest and easy to understand advice which has saved me many dollars and much frustration.

The last example was swapping the position of a door and window at the back of our house. I had two quotes and both were about $2,000, which I almost paid, as I did not think I could do it myself, but after Graeme's guidance I was able to do the job for about $500 which included Graeme's fees, tool hire, and material's. Not only did I save $1500, but now I know how to do it myself, and am more confident in taking on other job's.

And if I run into problems then I have someone to fall back on for advice or assistance. The perfect solution for someone who is short on experience and skills, bit willing to give it a go.

"You couldn’t get this sort of service anywhere"

If you want to commence a renovation project as an owner-builder and are looking for some assistance/advice there is only one person to call …. Graeme Homewood.  Graeme has the experience, expertise, knowledge and patience to help with any renovation project. We are increasing the size of an old 100 sqm post war home to over 400sqm to accommodate our growing family (7 at the last count).  We have a set budget and wanted to complete a lot of the work ourselves without compromising on quality. Graeme has assisted in every step from showing us how to save on labour costs, equipment costs and tips on how to complete specific tasks, all the way to giving us hands-on assistance with the more technically difficult parts of the project.  Graeme has been readily available by phone to answer any question (no matter how trivial).  You couldn’t get this sort of service anywhere. This is the answer for anyone wanting to tackle a building project themselves with the security of knowing that help with any aspect is just a phone call away.
